Long time no update!
Let's see if we can count how many computers have broken since I last updated.... 3?
No, 2, because it was 2 computer, but one broke more than once.
Regardless, Chance is making a steady progress towards the completion of chapter 2. Sorry for the time it's taking. I'm still trying to find a scanner that is the correct size for my paper. It's like 9" by 13" and it's very picky. BUT once I do, the first half of Chapter 2 will be uploaded. The story is taking a quick paced turn through the first major events in the story, including some development of Chisaki and Umaeru's relationship.
The next chapter will also start the adventure part of the story. It will lead up to another character-defining flashback regarding Koniki's biggest closet skeletons that flows into chapter 3. We will also learn some more of Chisaki, why she snapped the way she did, and excactly what happened to Umaeru during their fight.
Here's some questions that haven't been asked, but people might be thinking.
Q: Is Chisaki always insane like this?A: No, in fact, Chisaki is very stable minded. Chisaki has her crazy moments, but it's a result of some of the things regarding her relationship with Umaeru.
Q: Why DID Umaeru break up with Chisaki?A: That will be touched on. It's an important plot element that will come into play near the middle of the story.
Q: Tir Na Nog? What's with Umaeru's obsession with this dream? Who is asking him to save Tir Na Nog? Better yet, WHAT is Tir Na Nog?A: Tir Na Nog, or "Paradise" is a key factor in the Mabinogi storyline. If you have played Mabinogi, you would understand the answer to both questions, but as this story can stand alone without knowledge of Mabinogi, I come to expect some people to not know the details of the Generation 1 storyline. It's a tender question that will be approached with sensitivity in the manga. Remember, on this subject... YOU know as much as the characters!
Q: Why doesn't Umaeru know Koniki is a healer? Why hasn't she told anyone? Who is Nao?A: Nao does not want Koniki sharing her talent until the time is right. It wasn't touched much, because of my lack of talent in storytelling aspects and my desire to rush the introductions along, so I feel safe saying this information. Nao's identity will be covered in more detail in the future, but she is basically a member of a place called the "Soul Stream." All that is really known about it by Koniki now is that it is a not a place mortals have regular access to. There will be more details on the matter later.
Q: Why is being a healer SUCH a big deal? In the game, you can just choose to be a healer and it's pretty common.A: I decided to change the ideals a little bit. You see, in the game, you are all "the chosen one" so that everyone can do the story. However, I wanted the skill access in the world of Erinn to be more selective. Healing, in my opinion, shouldn't be something easily taught, it should be a delicate skill that is hard to learn. That's when I noticed the lack of healers around the world, so I decided it was a skill that was widely spread, but as time passed, the talent grew more and more lacking, and it was a talent that was born into someone. I decided to make it more rare, by making it a trading process. To heal, you pass your life into another person. To heal a broken arm, your arm's stability goes into your target's arm, etc. However, less of a sacrifice will be made the more it is trained and the better you are at healing. Because it is so unreal, I decided to make Nao be the one who needs to teach Koniki. Koniki will also be seen making subtle, secret trips to the healer, Dilys, where she will be in cahoots with Nao in the training, teaching her subtle techniques.
So I hope you enjoyed this little update! Look forward to some art from Chance and a chapter update hopefully soon!
